Emizole
 
Miconazole is used to treat skin infections
such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm,
and other fungal skin infections . This
medication is also used to treat fungal
infection that causes a lightening or
darkening of the skin of the neck, chest,
arms, or legs. Miconazole is an azole
antifungal that works by preventing the
growth of fungus.
 
Indication
For the topical application in the treatment
of
   • Cutaneous candidiasis (moniliasis),
   • Tinea versicolor
   • Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot),
   • Tinea cruris, and
   • Tinea corporis

Formulation
Each gram contains 20mg Miconazole Nitrate in a water miscible base.
 
 
Dosage and Administration
Should be applied 2x daily (morning & evening).
Early relief of symptoms (2 to 3 days) is
experienced by the majority of patients and
clinical improvement may be seen fairly soon
after treatment is begun; however, Candida
infections and tinea cruris and corporis should
be treated for two weeks and tinea pedis for
one month in order to reduce the possibility of
recurrence. If a patient shows no clinical
improvement after a month of treatment, the
diagnosis should be re-determined. Patients
with tinea versicolor usually exhibit clinical and
mycological clearing adter two weeks of
treatment.
